Responsibilities

Take ownership of existing ETL processes while implementing improvements.
Design and implement data pipelines using our Kafka infrastructure to enable near real-time analytics.
Develop and maintain our data lake implementation with bronze/silver/gold zones on cloud storage.
Configure and optimize cloud data warehouse solutions for analytics performance.
Implement security controls that ensure HIPAA/HITRUST compliance in a multi-tenant environment.
Write high-performance SQL for analytical queries across multiple data sources.
Collaborate with BI developers to expose data models for visualization.
Maintain data quality and implement monitoring throughout the data pipeline.
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code for our data platform.
Participate in workflow orchestration development for data pipelines.
Document current processes and create runbooks for operational continuity.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in data engineering roles with proven ability to design scalable data architectures.
Strong expertise in ETL development and maintenance.
Experience with event-driven architectures and Apache Kafka.
Experience with cloud data lakes, preferably using open table formats (Delta Lake, Iceberg, or Hudi).
Proficiency with AWS data services.
Strong SQL skills across different database systems.
Experience with Python for data processing and pipeline development.
Knowledge of data modeling techniques for analytics (star schema, snowflake schema).
Understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles.
Familiarity with healthcare data and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Advanced English.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with workflow orchestration tools for data pipelines.
Knowledge of GraphQL and API development.
Familiarity with modern BI visualization tools.
Experience with multi-tenant data architectures in healthcare environments.
Background in implementing row-level security models.
Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data pipeline development.
Experience with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, etc.).
